Molters, Magicians and more!
Well again I apologize for the lack of posts. I should be regularly posting from here on out, now that everything has settled down over here.
My smallest Ruggie Hachi-Roku has completed a molt not that long ago. Spiffy new Exo, that's beautifully colored (pictures soon!) and very SHARP leg tips that can puncture my skin (OUCH) are all evidence of his molt. He's got nutso climbing on and over everything. Successful molt 5.
Two weeks ago, another E who I hadn't seen in weeks (16 E's now LOL I miscounted and forgot this guy) came up also obviously fresh from a molt. Extremly long leg tips and an absence of nearly 3 weeks gave it away. He immediatly changed into a giant rock shell and has remained in in since. Molt 6...
Last week I discovered a surprise as I was going to bed... a PP, that I at first was naked, running frantically about the tank. The poor thing was all pale orange and purple, obviously fresh from a molt. It had on a shell so tiny that the only thing it could do to hide was to tuck in it's eyes... I cleaned out all the shells and offered them to him. He immediatly tried three on, and settled on a large Pica shell. A week later he's doing great, and is my most active PP! He's regained some color, but still not very much. That's successful molt number 7. This makes 11 PP's??? I'm a bit confused now I really dunno where this PP came from LOL. It has to be one of Riven's.
And finally, while I was looking for shells in the sand to offer the above PP molter, I accidentally uncovered my PP Io... and ironically, he was going through a molt too! I moved him over to the new moss pit and put a thin layer of moss to give him some darkness, with what I could find of his exo. After a week he still hadn't come up from the moss pit in Iso (with my E's), so I took him up two days ago to check up on him and to offer his exo BP and a few legs I had just found. Unfortunatly he'd dropped his inner left leg (I almost didn't notice!), and he seems much smaller then he was before his molt... :(
I put in some cuttlebone with him in the moss pit and two days later (today) he's still buried...
Last week I bought some Fluker's Moss, Bed-A-Beast CF, and a new 15 watt sun-glo bulb... The sun-glo generates much more heat, which is perfect. I just put in a tiny bit of Bed-A-Beast in my Iso tank (I LOOOVE the smell of it! So earthy lol) to give it a "trial" run. All of my E's flocked to it, I assume because of the humidity. (Tank humidity has risen to 82 from 75% already). It seems messier then sand though...
My largest Black ruggie is AWOL, and has been for two weeks. I honestly didn't expect a molt so soon! I just honestly hope he keeps his black coloring. Also Mungo is down, I assume for a molt. She was missing for two weeks, and about a week ago came up and soaked in the new saltwater dish I had put in while she was buried for about half an hour... Then she went back down... Sheesh, molting mania all of a sudden!
Anyway just thought I'd post a few updates here.
